Intake & Assessment
In order to determine which of our ketamine programs is the best treatment fit for you and your goals, our intake involves two steps:
- Completion of an intake medical questionnaire
- Thorough personal assessment with one of our licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs)
A Comfortable Setting
To ensure a beneficial journey, we take time to outline what you can expect during your treatment. Our team will guide you through creating an optimal mindset for your sessions, setting your intentions, aftercare, and how to make the most of your time with us. You will be given noise-cancelling headphones, warm weighted blankets and a face mask for your eyes.
An Exploring Experience
During exploration sessions, you’ll enter an altered state of consciousness. Clients describe feelings of deep relaxation, wonder, and a newfound capacity to explore challenging emotions and life experiences, with the support of our highly skilled team.

Our evidence-based treatment protocol involves six ketamine explorations paired with our psychotherapy plan with supportive integration sessions. Throughout your journey, we personalize your ketamine dosage based on your comfort level, history, and tolerance to the medicine. We start with a low dose and slowly increase your dose throughout your journey to help you reach deeper breakthroughs.
Considerations & Eligibility
Currently, there are limited established recommendations for the use of ketamine treatment in psychiatric disorders. Therefore, the selection of appropriate candidates for ketamine treatment requires careful consideration regarding the risks and benefits of the treatment in the context of the individual’s severity of depression and/or suicidality, duration of current episode, previous treatment history, and urgency for treatment.
Ketamine Therapy Is not appropriate for people with:
- Active substance abuse
- History of psychosis
- History of increased intracranial pressure
- Pregnancy (current)
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Acute or unstable cardiovascular disease
- Previous negative response to ketamine

Ketamine is an anesthetic. It is a preferred choice in operating rooms and clinical settings today due to its excellent safety profile. First approved by the US Food & Drug Administration in 1970, ketamine was originally brought to market as a safer alternative to existing anesthetics.
At the start of the 21st century, ketamine was found to be remarkably effective as an antidepressant when administered in low doses.
Unlike traditional antidepressants which can take weeks to make an impact, Ketamine can rapidly reduce depressive symptoms within two hours of administration, and this relief can be sustained for up to two weeks following just a single dose.
Ketamine triggers neuroplasticity (a state when your brain can more easily learn, change and adapt), allowing the brain to make new connections and disconnect from old patterns of thinking, which contribute to mental health symptoms. This creates a temporary window for establishing new habits, thought patterns, and perceptions.
Intravenous (IV) ketamine therapy should not be considered for the initial treatment of psychiatric disorders or chronic pain management.
Ketamine therapy should only be considered after failure of standard treatment:
- No sustained change following adequate antidepressant trials (some individuals will have tried several different anti-depressants), different medication combinations, and/or ECT/TMS.
- No sustained change in response to adjunctive group CBT or individual therapy.
Once you have had your medical consultant with our NPs, our team will reach out to schedule your treatment program. Please keep in mind:
- Plan to have a relaxing recovery day after your ketamine exploration, without significant obligations, work, or plans.
- You must arrange for a support companion to escort you home after your treatment. Your support companion is welcome to stay in our comfortable waiting area for the duration of your treatment.
- We ask that you refrain from driving and operating heavy machinery for 24 hours after your ketamine exploration
Our ketamine therapy program is tailored to the individual’s needs and exact pacing will depend on the clinic’s schedule. However, a typical example would be a set of six Ketamine Infusion sessions over the course of three weeks.
